"How should I witness to my coworkers?"

When we interact with people on a daily basis, we have many opportunities for sharing our faith. First, be sure you are respectful to your employer and set a good example in your work ethic by working "as to the Lord" (Colossians 3:23).

When others around you grumble and complain, if you have a calm, forgiving, steadfast spirit, it will make an impression. As you respond in a Christ-like way to angry coworkers and stressful circumstances, people will see a difference in your life. Always be friendly and courteous, and show genuine interest in your coworkers’ lives. Invite them out to lunch to get better acquainted. Share their joys and sorrows by congratulating them in their good times and offering to pray for them in their bad times.

Be sure you do pray for them, then follow up by asking them about the situation you prayed for. They will be moved by your concern. If coworkers are discussing what they did during the previous weekend, you can share your excitement about attending church services or a special church event. Ask others if they have any plans for celebrating Christmas or Easter; be nonjudgmental of their answer, but be ready (if asked) to explain why you celebrate as you do.

Displaying a favorite Scripture or a devotional calendar, or reading your Bible during lunchtime, may prompt others to inquire about your faith. Bringing home-baked goods or leaving a small gift with a note on a coworker’s desk can sometimes have a greater impact than a thousand eloquent sermons. We can show our faith by our works. Others may not like a tree of righteousness, but they cannot help but like its fruit. Pray for opportunities to share the gospel, being careful not to infringe on your boss’s time.

New Mission Field for Dr. Hovind

Sad news for Dr. Hovind, still continue to pray for him. This article was on CSE Blogs written by Eric Hovind.

"After 18 years of traveling and speaking with an incredibly hectic schedule, which included speaking as many as 900 times a year and flying over 2,000,000 miles, Dr. Hovind was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for failure to withhold and pay employee taxes.

People have contacted our ministry with a variety of opinions, but ultimately offering support for how God has used CSE to build their faith.

Dr. Hovind’s paralegal for this case has written a lengthy article concerning the facts and outcome of all that has happened. In his opportunity to address the court, Dr. Hovind tried to choke back the tears as he went through the history of the ministry as well as a history of his correspondence with legal advisors on taxation and the letters written to the IRS that were never answered.

“I intend to obey the law and think that everyone should obey the law,” he said. “If I would have known that I was doing something unlawful, I would have corrected it.” He admitted that he had dragged his wife into a battle that she did not want, and in his final comments he asked the judge to take any sentence that would be imposed on his wife and add it to his own.

For Mrs. Jo Hovind, the judge invited the attorneys to file more motions that could result in her sentence being reduced. With that said, a new “tentative” sentencing date was set for March first of this year. Jo was allowed to return home.

As I sat through the sentencing process for my mom and dad today, a flurry of emotions went through my soul including sadness and pain in seeing how this whole process could have been avoided, thinking about the money we needed to raise, knowing my kids will miss their grandpa, and knowing the big shoes I have to fill.

God has already demonstrated time and time again that He is more than able to take a challenging situation and use it for His own glory. I don’t know how often you try to figure out what God is doing, but there is always something in me which tries to guess what God is up to. Then I remember the rhetorical questioning of Isaiah where he asks, “Who hath known the mind of the Lord?”

Yes, despite the circumstances, we look to a bright future here at CSE as we continue to produce and distribute creation material that will be used to train and equip Christians for the greatest opportunity ever - the opportunity for God to draw others to Himself through the work of CSE. There are still many who do not know the truth about creation. We feel that it is our responsibility to make this message available to all who will hear.

Please pray for me as I accept the challenge to lead CSE into this new season. I am excited, because I know God has things we cannot even imagine on the horizon. I am humbled, because as I said, these are big shoes to fill.

I have been working for my dad all my life. He has taught me everything from how to ride a bike to how to build a house. I have learned a great deal from him as I have served with this ministry in doing everything from digging ditches to speaking in churches for eight years now. I have had the opportunity to present my dad’s seminar in more than 40 states and six countries. This message and information on creation still amazes me! I will be continuing my speaking schedule to include the requests for creation talks that come in weekly. In fact, the Creation message will be the sole focus of my speaking engagements, as that is the battlefield that God has called our team to fight in. So our ministry to churches, conferences, and public engagements will not change. I would encourage you to schedule in advance and sooner-vs-later since we have one less speaker on our team for the time being.

The obvious question which many are asking is whether CSE is implementing any changes to avoid these unfortunate circumstances in the future. I would like to assure you that I have personally met with the IRS and have been seeking their advice on the future direction of our ministry. This is part of our commitment to make the creation message the sole focus of this ministry.

Many of you have asked what you can do to help and have already demonstrated your love and faithfulness to us by writing letters to the court and sending the money necessary to continue this work for God. Your love and concern overwhelms us with encouragement. And yes! There is much you can do to help.

First and most obvious, I ask that you pray.

–Pray for my dad, that God would give him peace in the midst of storms.
–Pray for my mom, as she still has to go to court for sentencing on March first.
–Pray for me, that God would give me wisdom to lead this ministry in my dad’s absence.
–Pray for souls to be saved with the message of creation that is so vital to today’s world.
–Pray for God’s mercy in the appeal.

Second, I would ask you to continue to write letters to Dr. Hovind and let him know how this ministry has impacted you or your church. This would be a great encouragement as he reflects on the past 18 years of ministry.

Third, I ask that you be a part of supporting this ministry.

–You can copy the material and creation message and spread it to those who do not know or have not heard that the Creator made this world.

"How should I witness to a Jew?"

Sadly, many of today’s Jews profess godliness but don’t embrace the Scriptures as we presume they do. Therefore, it is often difficult to reason with them about Jesus being the Messiah. This is why it is imperative to ask a Jew if he has kept the Law of Moses—to "shut" him up under the Law (Galatians 3:23) and strip him of his self- righteousness. The Law will show him his need of a Savior and become a "schoolmaster" to bring him to Christ (Galatians 3:24), as happened to Paul, Nicodemus, and Nathaniel. It was the Law that brought 3,000 Jews to the foot of the cross on the Day of Pentecost. Without it they would not have known that they had sinned (Romans 7:7), and therefore would not have seen their need of the Savior. See Luke 18:20 footnote for how to use the Law in evangelism.

Warfare-Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammuntion

Last Sunday for the first time I preached to my church. I was very nervous but I was told I did well. So since I did so well I decided to post my sermon here, enjoy!-GavinOvz

Before we became Christians we floated downstream with other dead fish. But now, God has put His life within us and we now find are selfs swimming against a swift current: the world, the devil, and the flesh.

Our First enemy is the world, which refers to the sinful, rebellious world system we have today. John 3:20 says the world loves the darkness and hates the light and Ephesians 2:2 says it (the world) is governed by the prince of the power of air. The world can tack good things such as sex, power, money, or material things and change it into bad things with lust. Lust is unlawful desire, and is the life's blood of the world. You can hardly watch television, lesson to the radio, or even surf the net with out being hit with lust from the world. It is very important we do not give into lust.

Lust is a monster that will never be gratified. James 1:15 says it will grow bigger and bigger until the weighs heavy upon your back, and will be the death of you. The way to stop it is not to feed it. When are desire for things such as a new car, a bigger TV, more money and so on becomes predominant, it becomes idolatry.

1st John 2:15

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

James 4:4

You adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

The second enemy is the devil. 2nd Corinthians 4:4 says that he is the god of this world. John 8:44 and Ephesians 2:2 says that he was your spiritual father before you joined the family of God. Jesus says in John 10:10 that the devil is a thief who came to steal, kill, and destroy. The way to overcome him and his demons is to make sure you are outfitted with the spiritual armor of God.

Ephesians 6:10-20

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take to you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breast plate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication of all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Become familiar with the armor of God. Sleep in it. Never take it off. Bind the sword to your hands so you never lose its grip. The reason beings us to the third enemy.

The flesh is the third enemy. It is are sinful nature. The domain for this battle is our minds. If you are like the rest of us you have a mind and like the rest of us it will be attracted to the world and all its sin. The mind is the control panel for the eyes and the ears.

Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Matthew 15:19

For out of the heat proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

We think of sin before we commit it. James 1:15 warns that lust brings forth sin, and sin when it is conceived brings forth death. Every day we have a question. To sin or not to sin that is the question.The answer is the fear of God. If you do not fear God then we will continue sinning.

Did you know God kills people? He killed a man in Genesis 38:9 for what he did sexually. (It also shows how God feels about abortion.)

He killed another man for being greedy in Luke 12:15-21.

And he killed a husband and wife for lying in Acts 5:1-10.

Knowledge of God's goodness and his righteous judgments against evil should put the fear of God in us and help us not to indulge in sin. We know that the eye of the Lord is in every place, beholding the evil and the good and He will bring every work to Judgment. Such thoughts are valuable.

Proverbs 16:6

for by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

"How should I witness to a homosexual?"

Rather than offend homosexuals by directly confronting the issue of their sinful lifestyle, modern evangelism often tries to soften the approach by saying that "God hates the sin, but loves the sinner." This isn’t a new concept.

Charles Finney stated, "God is not angry merely against the sin abstracted from the sinner, but against the sinner himself. Some persons have labored hard to set up this ridiculous and absurd abstraction, and would fain make it appear that God is angry at sin, yet not at the sinner. He hates the theft, but loves the thief. He abhors adultery, but is pleased with the adulterer. Now this is supreme nonsense. The sin has no moral character apart from the sinner. The act is nothing apart from the actor. The very thing that God hates and disapproves is not the mere event—the thing done in distinction from the doer; but it is the doer himself. It grieves and displeases Him that a rational moral agent, under His government, should array himself against his own God and Father, against all that is right and just in the universe. This is the thing that offends God. The sinner himself is the direct and the only object of his anger."

So the Bible shows. God is angry with the wicked [Psalm 7:11], not with the abstract sin. If the wicked turn not, God will whet His sword—He has bent His bow and made it ready—not to shoot at the sin, but the sinner—the wicked man who has done the abominable thing. This is the only doctrine of either the Bible or of common sense on this subject" (The Guilt of Sin).

The biblical way to witness to a homosexual is not to argue with him about his lifestyle but to use the Law to bring the knowledge of sin. This will show him that he is guilty of breaking God’s holy Law, and he is damned not because of, but despite his sexual preference. The Law was made for homosexuals, as well as other lawbreakers.

Star Light, Star Bright, How far away are you tonight?

"I applied my heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness ad madness:"

Many creationists have come up agents this question: "How can we see stars that are millions of light years away if the universe is only 6,000 to 10,000."

Many evolutionist use this question on creationists saying that this is one of many evidences that disprove the Creation Science Theory. However this is not the case but before I tack on the question I must ask another. "How can we tell how far away a star is?

Scientists try to tell how far away stars are by using simple trigonometry. When two observation points looking at a third point and you know between the first two observation points and the angle they form at the third point you can calculate the unknown distance using Sine, Co, or Tan. They try doing this with stars but since the earth is only 8,000 miles in diameter witch is nothing to light years so they must find a larger area. So they look at a star in January and then in June witch makes your observation points much bigger by 16 light minutes, but still measuring something 1 light year away would be very hard. The observation triangle is very small. This is like having the observers 16 inches away from one another and looking at a dot 525,948 inches away or 8.26 miles.

To measure the distance of a star 100 light years away they would have to measure an angle of .00017 degrees. This would be like keeping the observers 16 inches apart and moving the 3rd point 836 miles away. Going to 15 billion light years in distance is clearly impossible.

Also another thing the speed of light has never been at the same speed threw out history. The hole theory on black holes is that light can be attracted to gravity then the speed of light can not be a content.

February 18th, 1999 Houston Chronicle, page 10 A; ran an article about a Danish Physicists, Dr. Hau working at Harvard, being able to slow it down light by cooling it. They cooled it to fifty billionths of a degree above a absolute zero -459.67. The light as slowed down to 38 Mph! In Dallas Morning News 2/28/2000 the article says they have now slowed it to 1 Mph!

"Researchers say they have slowed light to a dead stop, stored it and then released it as if it were an ordinary material particle. The achievement is a landmark feat that, by reining in nature's swiftest and most ethereal form of energy for the first time, could help realize what are no theoretical concepts for vastly increasing the speed of computers and the security of communications."

"Scientists claim they have broken the ultimate speed barrier; the speed of light. In research carried out in the united States, particle physicists have shown that light pulses can be accelerated to up to 300 times their normal velocity of 186,00 miles per second."

"During the last 300 years, at least 164 separate measurements of the speed of light have been published. Sixteen different measurement techniques were used. "The speed of light has apparently decreased so rapidly that experimental error cannot explain it!"

The seed of light has been in a decline but seems to have stayed the same since the early 60s. But that is because we have been using the atomic clock witch is like measuring light with light.

So you in overview you can not tell how far a star is, the max limit is 20 light years. Past that we can not tell.

There is also a theory that the creationists have created. Maybe after God created the world and then spread the universe out witch could explain red shift (however there is a problem with red shift but thats for another time.). Isaiah 40:22 says that God "stretches out the heavens as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in:"

There is another reason also a simple reason. When God made the stars "to give light upon the earth" (Genesis 1:14-18), those light would immediately visible on earth. They fulfilled their purpose on the first day God spoke them into being.

"How do I reach my neighbors with the gospel?"

Neighbors are like family. We don’t want to offend them unnecessarily, because we have to live with them. We need to be rich in good works toward all men, but especially our neighbors. The Bible reveals that this is a legitimate means of evangelism. Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). It is God’s will that "with well doing you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men" (1 Peter 2:15).

Sinners may disagree with what you believe, but seeing your good works makes them think, "I don’t believe what he believes, but he sure does. He certainly is sincere in his faith." A friendly wave, a gift for no reason, fresh- baked goods, etc., can pave the way for evangelism. Offer to mow your neighbors’ lawn or help do some painting. Volunteer to pick up their mail and newspapers while they’re on vacation. Compliment them on their landscaping and ask for gardening tips. Invite them over for a barbecue or dessert. Pray for an opportunity to share the gospel, and be prepared for it when it comes.

What do fossils have to do with giving birth?

I saw this on Answers in Genesis, it is so good I posted it.

Q: What do fossils have to do with giving birth?

A: Most people believe it takes millions of years for a fossil to form, but that it only takes a short period of time for a mother to give birth. But knowing that birth is such a brief process shows us that fossils don’t take millions of years to form! Consider this startling example:

A museum in Germany has a beautifully detailed fossil on display. It shows an ichthyosaur in the process of giving birth to a fully formed baby. The baby, except for the head, appears to have emerged from the body of the mother.

This fossil presents a problem for those who think such fossils were formed over millions of years. It’s obvious that the mother and baby ichthyosaur must have been buried instantly to capture the birth while it was occurring. Also, the tissues of the baby ichthyosaur would have been more susceptible to decomposition, and yet they were preserved in nearly perfect detail.

When we study the events of Genesis—such as the Flood of Noah, and the destruction it would’ve caused—we shouldn’t be surprised to find such fossils as an ichthyosaur caught in the act of giving birth. Such fossils make sense when you start with the Bible.
